Let’s face it, just having a website isn’t going to cut it in today’s business environment. Sure it’s great that you have a website to put on your business card and a professional email address, but beyond that you really need your website to be working for you and your business. By that I mean, your website needs to be putting leads into your sales funnel or money directly in your pocket. To help you accomplish that, today we’re going to talk about how to get your business on Google’s first page for free.
First Things First – “Free” Isn’t Free
As a business owner you know time is money. While I’m going to discuss things that aren’t going require an outlay of cash, it is going to require an investment of your time. Unfortunately, it’s just not possible to “will” your business onto Google’s first page.
With that being said, let’s start. Getting on Google’s first page is primarily going to involve using your own website and other websites.
Using Your Website
The easiest way to get(and stay) on Google’s first page is to write and publish content regularly to your website. People use search engines to find solutions to their products whether that solution is buying a product, finding an answer to a question, or filling a social desire in today’s technology-centric world.
Your customers and potential customers are also using search engines to search for information. By writing and publishing content that is helpful and relevant to your customers and potential customers you are supplying Google with much needed content it can use to provide answers and solutions to people’s problems and searches.
All you need to do is think like your customers. Ask yourself, “What are my customers and potential customers searching Google for?” Brainstorm a little bit and then start writing content for your website.
I’m not going to lie, this requires patience, consistency and dedication. You can’t write an article and receive an avalanche of traffic overnight or all of a sudden catapult your business to the top of Google’s first page for everything and anything remotely related to your business. However, if you stick with it you will see an increase in traffic over time. The more quality content you publish to your website, the more traffic you will receive.
Using Other Websites
The other major way to get your business listed on Google’s first page for free is to use other websites. The type of websites I’m talking about are Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Yelp, Youtube, etc. Basically, any website where it makes sense for your business to be.
When your business has accounts on these websites it’s another opportunity to be listed on Google’s first page. A lot of savvy business people like to use these types of websites to monopolize the front page of Google. Google will list content from all these different sites to provide a variety of useful information to its users.
Content isn’t limited to just written text. If it makes sense you can make videos of yourself doing demonstrations or explaining concepts. You can then post those videos to Youtube and link back to your website. Your videos will have a good chance of showing up on Google’s first page if it covers topics that people are searching for, ESPECIALLY if there isn’t a whole lot of other content out there.
The same concept applies to the other websites I mentioned and didn’t mention. You just need to make content that is appropriate for the site you are posting it to and relevant to your customers and potential customers.
Final Thoughts
I could write hundreds and thousands of pages giving you all of the nitty gritty details on how to do this in depth, but it’s already been done. If you’re the type of person that can take a few details and run with it, then you can make it really far with what I’ve told you so far if you consistently take action and publish content on your website.
If you’re the type of person that likes a little bit more structure and details then I recommend Wealthy Affiliate. They specialize in helping people build and market websites from the ground up and getting rankings on the first page. If you have any questions feel free to ask them below.
